There was apparently a number of Ducato produced with dodgy connections to the starter motor where the positive was only resting, a current applied had the effect of a bimetallic spring but a reduced voltage meant that the starter didnt turn. Just worth checking this as well. hope this helps Phil

Disconnect the starter motor solenoid relay switch wiring. Remove the protective cover. Disconnect the push-on electrical connector. Remove the nuts. Remove the cable. Remove the starter motor solenoid relay switch. Remove the engine sensor/generator wires. Remove the bolts and ground wire.
Having spent a day trying to find the problem I can rule out starter motor as on removing it and checking; it runs fine. Seems no power signal is getting from the ecu to the solenoid. Ignition switch seems OK turning it energises the various relays but nothing to the solenoid.
